For each full-length film we watch in class, you need to write a 1-2 page response paper about the film. I want to hear about your personal reactions to the film. What did you like about it? What didn’t you like? What would you have done differently? How does it compare to other films we’ve seen in class or other more modern things you’ve seen on your own? What point was the director trying to make? Is the director’s argument true? Etc. Don’t worry, I’m not grading on spelling, grammar, or penmanship. But don’t just tell me about the plot. Think about the film and write what you think.

Here’s an example of a more traditional response paper: Rocky response

But if you want to do something a little more creative, feel free. As long as you’re talking and thinking about the film and things we’ve discussed in class, write in any way that interests you. It could be a poem, a play, a fake interview, a comic strip… Here’s a few examples:

32 short films about Glenn Gould response

Diary of a Country Priest response
